White House

I feel so protected here
Nothing to fear
Security all dressed and armed
Everyone alert and alarmed
Guest tags on and my best self
Smiling and laughing at everything
My brothers thoughts of playing were soon shot down
Don't touch anything
Bowling and dinners with president and first lady
I remember my moms words
Sit, Shhhh, Silence, settle down
Click Click
Hearing my grandmothers finger press down on the button
Miss it now, Coming Home
Wishing he was still there, as well as I

Techniques Used-
Click Click-onomatopoeia
Sibilance included in the sit, shhhh, silence, and settle down
Consonance- coming home

  1. This is a great poem Ellie! I can see you right now with a little name tag acting up in the white house and making everyone laugh. Good writing.
